This leading food company is the first meat company to obtain this recognition, awarded by the Spanish Association of Manufacturers and Distributors (AECOC) for reducing emissions in its logistics processes
El Pozo Alimentación, a leading food company and part of Grupo Fuertes, has obtained its first Lean & Green star, awarded by the Association of Manufacturers and Distributors (AECOC), after certifying a reduction of over 20 percent in its CO2 equivalent emissions from its logistics processes over a five-year period. El Pozo Alimentación therefore becomes the first meat company to obtain this recognition.
The company has implemented an important, rigorous action plan to improve its logistical processes so as to minimise their environmental impact. It is also working on a decarbonisation action plan by developing measures related to vehicle efficiency, fleet renewal, load and route optimisation, the introduction of new fuels and training for efficient driving.
Becoming part of the European Lean & Green initiative is a way for El Pozo Alimentación to continue defining its environmental objectives and to implement improvement actions that contribute to the sustainability objectives established at the Paris Climate Summit to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Its participation in this initiative also involves establishing protocols and evaluating audited measures to guarantee the transparency of the results obtained.
