El Pozo Alimentación adds one of the most important sporting events in the world to its plan of support for Spanish sport
El Pozo Alimentación is sponsoring the Huelva 2021 Badminton World Championships, one of the most important yearly sporting events in the world, which starts with the senior phase on 28 November and continues in the Andalusian city with the overall phase from 12 to 19 December. By doing so, the food company incorporates a new sporting event into its plan of support for Spanish sport. One of the most important internationally, this competition grants maximum points to the badminton players, at the same level as the Olympic Games.
The company reaffirms its commitment to sport, one of the mainstays of its policy because of the values it represents, and becomes the new face of these internationally important world championships. The brand will be present at all activities taking place as part of the championships.
The sponsorship agreement was ratified at El Pozo Alimentación’s facilities in Alhama de Murcia at an event attended by Tomás Fuertes, president of the company, José Fuertes, managing director, Gabriel Cruz, the mayor of Huelva, and Andoni Azurmendi, president of the Spanish Badminton Federation.
This is the third time that the World Championships are held in Spain. It is a large global event which, over the course of the different competition dates, will bring together more than 30,000 attendees and 2,000 sportspeople of 50 different nationalities. It will reach 614 million homes all over the world via the different multimedia platforms and the broadcasting of the event on 21 television channels.
Badminton is a growing sport in Spain, with more than 180,000 players including those at schools. Thanks to this, and reflecting the success of World Champion Carolina Marín, the sport has been growing at an average of 20% over the last 3 years, with almost 9,500 licences and more than a million and a half followers in Spain.
