The company is organising the I National Gathering of Butchers, which is part of the events to commemorate its 65th anniversary
ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN has brought together more than 300 professionals from the meat sector from all over Spain in its facilities in Alhama de Murcia in the first National Gathering of Butchers. The objective of this day is to analyse current consumer trends and habits and exchange proposals and ideas to improve.
This is the first gathering of these characteristics to take place in the Region of Murcia, being one of the events to celebrate the company’s 65th anniversary. The working day has been done in collaboration with the Spanish Confederation of Meat Retailers (CEDECARNE).
The gathering included round table discussions, conferences from experts and specialists, as well as a visit to ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN’s facilities. By holding this event, the leading food company is recognising the work of this collective, promoting the exchange of experiences and proposals on how to meet consumers’ current needs.
The director of the Food Sector from Kantar Worldpanel, Joan Riera also took part in the event and talked about consumer trends and the meat products market and the important part butchers play in its evolution.
Afterwards, there was a round table discussion on how butchers of the future will be, as well as new business models, training and generational replacement, talked about by the secretary general of the Spanish Confederation of Meat Retailers (CEDECARNE) and the managing director of the National Association of Butchers of Madrid (CARNIMAD), María Sánchez; the director of Área Tiendas Peña de Madrid, Antonio Peña; the manager of the Hermanos Hernando butcher’s from Valencia, Silvia Hernando, and the manager of the Gonzalez butcher’s and president of the Butchers’ Guild of Burgos, Miguel Ángel González. The round table was presided over by Ricardo Miguelañez, managing director of Agrifood Sector Communication.
The day continued with a speech on social sustainability from the company’s vet, Pedro Olivares. His speech focused on the new Animal Welfare protocol implemented by ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN, which is the most ambitious and demanding in Spain for the measures that have been introduced throughout the livestock chain. Olivares also addressed questions related to food safety and taking care of the environment.
Other themes treated were by the director of the Chair of Food Safety and Sustainability Grupo Fuertes, Gaspar Ros, who has been president of the Food Safety and Nutrition section of the Spanish Safety Agency’s Scientific Committee, who focused his speech on the virtues of meat and charcuterie, their nutritional properties and the benefits its consumption has on our health.
Igor Tudela, ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN’s Processed Products Trade Marketing Manager, together with his equivalent in Fresh Products, Emilio Jeannot, explained the best practices to use at points of sale.
The day was opened by the president of the Company Tomás Fuertes and closed by its managing director, Rafael Fuertes, in both cases accompanied by representatives from CEDECARNE.
