In this capacity, the practitioner will contribute to the promotion, development and progress of the Veterinary Sciences.
Pedro Francisco Olivares Sánchez, Head Veterinarian of ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN and Food Safety of Grupo Fuertes, has been appointed as Corresponding Member of the Academy of Veterinary Sciences of the Region of Murcia to contribute to the promotion, development and progress of these services.
The subject of the new member’s acceptance speech was:” The evolution of the concept of Food Safety in the European agri-food sector: Perspectives on the meat sector in light of the new consumer”. The presentation was made by Full Member, Blas Marsilla de Pascual.
Olivares has a degree in Veterinary Medicine and has been assuming various responsibilities in Grupo Fuertes for 24 years. He is currently Co-Chairman of the Agri-Food Commission of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, partner in the European ClearFarm project, member of the Meat and Food Safety Committee of AECOC (Association of Manufacturers and Distributors), of the Technical Committee of ANICE (National Association of Meat Industries of Spain) and is a member of the Board of Directors of ASICI (Interprofessional Association of Iberian Pork), among other positions.
The main mission of the Academy of Veterinary Sciences of the Region of Murcia is to establish criteria and interpretations of a scientific, technical, health and training nature to resolve any veterinary problem that may arise in society. It is responsible for issuing reports for the different administrations and promoting cultural events related to this subject, as well as encouraging research in this field that is so vital for human life.
