They are collaborating with the campaign run by the Region of Murcia’s Blood Donation Centre
Workers from ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN are showing their solidarity with society today by joining the blood collection campaign organised by the Region of Murcia’s Blood Donation Centre so that tomorrow, on the day of the “Bando de la Huerta” (a local holiday), there will be enough supply in case of possible emergencies.
A team of health professionals have gone to the food company’s facilities in Alhama de Murcia to collect blood for the special needs of health centres.
With this gesture workers from ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN are demonstrating their solidarity for others, as they are aware that blood cannot be manufactured and can only be obtained via donation. Treatments for cancer, surgery and organ transplants, for example, cannot be done if people do not donate. Each donation could save the life of at least three people, as the platelets, plasma and red blood cells are separated and the transfusion is given to whoever needs it. Blood should wait for the patient not the patient for the blood.
ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN’s initiative which allows workers to give blood during their working day is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility policy aimed at developing and promoting quality of life.
