Our commitment to environmental sustainability is aimed at decarbonisation, waste prevention and water saving, as part of a circular strategy that also promotes the optimisation of increasingly sustainable packaging. We are the first company in the sector to have the Retray seal, from the Ecosense Foundation, which guarantees that the recovery and recycling of plastic material is guaranteed in our processes.

Empleo

People are the heart and soul of ElPozo Alimentación. To create a good, healthy working environment and foster personal and professional development, we promote many different means of combining family and work life, and social benefits such as a nursery, relaxation room, sports facilities, and health care 24 hours a day.

Social Support

Apoyo social

We actively collaborate with the donation of food. In the last year, we have delivered more than 500,000 kilos of food and water from Grupo Fuertes food companies, also contributing to reducing food waste.

We participate in the 'Hospitality against Hunger' initiative, which fights against child malnutrition, promoted by Action Against Hunger and Hospitality of Spain. Our social support is also materialized through the ElPozo Alimentación Workers' Foundation. In addition, we get involved with sport. We have joined forces with Carlos Alcaraz, Pedro Acosta and Olga Carmona, our brand ambassadors, and we sponsor ElPozo Murcia Futsal, the Alhama Club de Fútbol ElPozo team, the Spanish Paralympic Team and La Vuelta, and other local sports initiatives.

Quality Education

Grupo Fuertes has the Antonio Fuertes Child Education Centre to make it easier to balance work and family life. This centre is designed for our workers’ children, with timetables to suit their working needs, and quality education and training. We also collaborate with the University of Murcia in the development of various programmes. One of these is the Grupo Fuertes Business Excellence Programme which provides grants to students so they can complete their studies at the ElPozo office in Shanghai, China.

Zero hunger

We regularly collaborate with the delivery of food to food banks, groups, third sector associations and aid entities. In the last year, we have donated more than 500,000 kilos of food and water. We collaborate in the Restaurants Against Hunger initiative, promoted by the NGO Action Against Hunger and Hospitality of Spain to fight against child malnutrition.

Clean water and sanitation

Care for natural resources is a priority for the company. We have water recovery systems through purification and reuse, have waste water treatment plants for that purpose, promote the improvement of processes and carry out awareness-raising actions. The treated water is channelled to the irrigation of nearby crops.

Health and Wellness

Food and consumer well-being is a priority for Grupo Fuertes, a pioneer in the development of foods that contribute to health care through its ElPozo Bienstar brand. We collaborate continuously with different universities and research centers in different studies of healthy eating and develop initiatives to guarantee the health and well-being of workers. In addition, ElPozo Alimentación has been the first food company to be awarded as a European Sports and Health Company, and has been recognised with the gold distinction.

Affordable and clean energy

We work by improving our facilities with the aim of being more efficient by optimising resources. We promote the use of renewable energies, the implementation of photovoltaic parks for electricity self-consumption or the obtaining of biogas from waste for the production of heat energy.

Responsible production and consumption

The Integral Process Control (CIP) circular integration model, implemented in Grupo Fuertes' food companies, guarantees traceability, safety and product quality throughout the process, taking into account the needs and expectations of our stakeholders. In addition, we are committed to increasingly sustainable and accessible packaging. We have pioneered the incorporation of the NaviLens code into our packaging to make it easier for the visually impaired to read product information with the use of this more inclusive technology. We are making progress in the development of packaging that contains a high percentage of recycled material, so that it contributes to reducing the impact it has on the environment, and guarantees, in turn, the safety, quality and conservation of the product to reduce food waste.

Decent work and economic growth

Grupo Fuertes is one of the main drivers of job creation in Spain. The company has more than 8,000 people on its staff. With our activity, we promote access to employment and the promotion of talent. In addition, we facilitate labour incorporation in scattered areas and with a smaller population, helping to guarantee the sustainability of the rural environment. 90 percent of the employment generated by Grupo Fuertes' agri-food companies is located in population centers of less than 20,000 inhabitants.

Climate Action

The Grupo Fuertes companies have specific actions underway to reduce consumption, energy and materials, and to minimise waste, the vast majority of which is recovered.

Reducing inequalities

The company promotes a work model based on respect for diversity and equal opportunities. Among the initiatives we promote, the InsertaEmpleo project, of the ONCE Foundation, or awareness-raising actions under the seal 'Companies Free of Gender Violence', granted by the Government of the Region of Murcia, stands out.

Partnerships for the Goals

At Grupo Fuertes we fulfil our commitments hand-in-hand with collaborators and members involved in accomplishing the goals. We are in partnership with all manner of entities, from sector-specific to academic ones (Universities, Research Centres, industry associations, etc.).
